Starfruit

Ok, I first need to start off by admitting that I am WAYYY behind on posts, sorry! Hopefully this is me getting back into the swing of posting once or twice a week. I just had to tell you guys about this fabulous fruit I bought last night at Publix...Starfruit! I have always wanted to try it and when I saw a basket of them sitting in the produce section, I decided to give it a whirl. I am in love...this is one of the most delicious fruits I have ever had. I don’t really know how to explain it other than it kind of tastes like an orange/apple/pear? It's VERY juicy and is the perfect refreshing snack after a good workout or just a stressful day. HIGHLY recommended :) Go get some while they are in season…

Hot Hot Hot

So lately I have been hearing tons of people talking about and reading so many blogs where people are writing about…HOT YOGA! A girl at my office told me about Atlanta Hot Yoga studio so I wanted to see what all the rage was about. I researched it online and went to my first Hot Power Yoga class last night! Below is the description of the class so you can see why I was nervous :) Apparently I did one of the hardest classes they offer for my first time.

“Power classes are vinyasa-based sequenced classes that move at a faster pace than a Hot Class. Poses flow from one to the other, in an ever-changing format. The room is heated to around 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Power classes are recommended for those who have a regular Hot practice, or those who have completed 5 or 10 Yoga Lessons classes. If you like Baptiste. Forrest, Astanga or Anusara styles of yoga, this is your class!”

The class started at 7:30 so I got there at 7:00 to chat with the instructor (who was a very tall man and looked like he was in the best shape of his life…reminded me of an Olympic runner!) and make sure I wasn’t getting myself into something I couldn't handle. He told me that the class I was about to do was the hardest of all the ones they offer because it was “Power” style and you are moving from position to position very rapidly. He gave me pointers on things I could do as a first timer so i felt a little more comfortable going into it.

The studio was modern and inviting and had a very cool ambiance. I got my mat, towel and water and walked into a room that was 105 degrees. You have to take your shoes off before you walk in so everyone is barefoot. The class lasted an hr and a half (7:30-9) and I loved every minute of it. It was very difficult at times but I got through it and finished all of the positions. After about 10 minutes in, I literally was dripping with sweat and looked like I had jumped into a swimming pool! It is very exhilarating and relaxing all while pushing yourself to stretch your body and strengthen your core. My teacher did a great job at walking everyone through the moves and helping us relax our thoughts and mind all at the same time. I bought a 10 class pass and can’t wait to go back again this week! I would love company! ;)

Perfect Weekend in Palmetto Bluff

This past weekend, Joe and I headed down to Palmetto Bluff, SC to stay at his grandparents' AMAZING house for the Long Labor Day weekend. Another couple from Savannah joined us as well. The couple whose wedding we attended at Palmetto Bluff last year was also down there so it was nice to hang out with everyone each day. “Perfect” doesn’t even begin to describe how nice the weekend was. The whole area is absolutely gorgeous and truly defines South Carolina’s low country. We spent our days eating delicious meals, riding bikes, playing croquet, hiking by the marshes, being pampered by the amazing pool and just relaxing. We kept joking all weekend long that it should be nicknamed “Happy-ville” because people there didn’t seem to have a care in the world. If I could retire tomorrow, this is where I would land :)

Each night following dinner, we found ourselves drinking wine by these amazing fire pits that they had down by the water and club house. Around 10:00 PM each night, they had a s ‘mores roast and wheeled out the most adorable s ‘mores cart with chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows. Kids and adults could make their own s ‘mores and roast them by the fire.
